Atlantis Gothicby ~DSil

Traditional Art / Drawings / Fantasy

In case you can't tell, this is a takeoff on American Gothic. I came up with the idea when I was, like, 13, so imagine my excitement when I got a school assignment that fit this perfectly! I still like the idea more than I do the drawing, I'll probably do it again when I'm 20-something and can make stuff look more realistic. But for now, you guys are stuck with this version.

Pastel, about 8 hours.

Pastels are infernally hard to control anyway, so any deviations from "satisfactory" can be laid at the feet of the Big Pile of Dust Under the Table. I, for one, really like all of the colors you worked into the skin tones, and the overall shinyness of them.

Ha! This is great. I happen to love the "American Gothic" painting, and all of the strange interpretations that artists do with it. You're has to be the most original yet. Very well painted with some wonderful color choices. I love the merman's expression. Nice work.
